Mul Cotton is one of the lightest cotton weaves in existence. At just a fraction of the weight of regular cotton, it drapes like a whisper — ideal for all-day comfort in Indian summers.
The porous weave allows continuous airflow and absorbs moisture. No sticking, no discomfort — even at 40°C. Your skin breathes all day.
Falls beautifully without stiffness or bulk. Gives you the premium look and movement of silk — without the weight, maintenance, or price tag.
Unlike synthetics that pill and fade, Mul Cotton becomes softer and more comfortable with each wash. It ages beautifully — just like fine craft should.
Not all cotton is created equal. Here's what sets Mul Cotton apart from regular cotton and synthetic blends.
Ultra-lightweight, airy
Handwoven on looms
Beautiful natural drape
Softer with every wash
Supports artisan families
100% eco-friendly
Heavier, traps heat
Machine-made
Stiff, needs ironing
Fades & pills over time
Factory-produced
Often polyester-blended
Nothing replaces seeing the fabric in motion. Watch the drape, the fall, the way light plays on handwoven Mul Cotton.
Mul Cotton — or Mulmul — has a heritage that traces back centuries. Once woven for Mughal royalty, this ultra-fine cotton was considered so precious that it was measured by weight, not length.
At Ethnic Elements, every Mul Cotton saree is sourced directly from traditional handloom clusters. No middlemen. No mass production. Each piece supports the artisan families who keep this craft alive.
Mul Cotton is versatile enough for every occasion. Here's how to style it.
Pair it with a sleek blouse, minimal jewellery, and an easy hairstyle for a look that feels fresh, relaxed, and effortlessly put together. Perfect for casual outings, low-key gatherings, or days when you want simple elegance with a modern edge.
Bold yet elegant, the Gold Tissue Saree radiates festive charm without being too heavy. Lightweight and lustrous, it’s perfect for weddings, pujas, or evening celebrations with effortless grace.
Airy mulmul paired with a corset, a chic beret and standout accessories for a look that feels bold, playful, and unapologetically bold look. Perfect for the girls who love to experiment and make a statement.
Our Mul Cotton sarees are standard 5.5 meters in length (including the pallu) and 42-44 inches in width (no blouse).
Mul Cotton is naturally lightweight and semi-sheer. We recommend wearing a cotton petticoat/underskirt for a polished look. This is standard for all mulmul sarees across brands.
Hand wash in cold water with mild detergent. Do not wring — gently squeeze and air dry in shade. Iron on low heat. Mul Cotton actually gets softer and more comfortable with each wash.
